Two raw materials from the Amazon forest, harvested from living trees by a traditional riverside community that works in partnership with the Carvalho Beans cooperative. Sold to companies, as ingredients.
What forest products does Colinza supply?
Two: dragon's blood, the red resin of Amazonian trees of the genus Croton, and natural latex from native rubber trees (Hevea brasiliensis). Both are supplied as raw materials to cosmetic, pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and natural-ingredient companies, not as finished consumer products.
Who harvests them, and where?
A traditional riverside community in the region of Colniza, northwestern Mato Grosso, near the cooperative in Taquaruçu do Norte. The community works in partnership with the Carvalho Beans cooperative, which handles the commercial side, so a buyer deals with one formally constituted counterparty rather than with individual collectors.
Extraction is one of the areas of activity written into the cooperative’s bylaws, alongside reforestation, bioenergy and agriculture. That is the same cooperative our Robusta (Conilon) coffee comes from.
Why does it matter that the trees stay standing?
Because both products are taken from living trees. The resin and the latex only have value while the tree is alive, so steady demand for them makes the standing forest worth more to the people who live in it than the cleared land would be.
What can a buyer request?
The technical sheet, available volume, harvest calendar, packaging and supply format, origin documentation, any laboratory analysis, and a sample. We share these with qualified buyers on request rather than publishing them, so every figure a buyer sees has been confirmed for that enquiry.
What about Brazil's Biodiversity Law?
Companies that research or develop products from Brazilian native species have obligations under Brazil’s Biodiversity Law (Law 13.123/2015). We work with each buyer on the documentation their use requires. We do not claim any registration, licence or benefit-sharing agreement on this site; what exists is stated in writing for each buyer.
These products are sold solely as raw materials. Neither Colinza nor the cooperative makes therapeutic or medicinal claims about them.
