What is it?
Latex tapped from the bark of the rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis), which is native to the Amazon and the origin of natural rubber. The tree is not felled: latex is collected from living trees, which keep producing for years.
Where does it come from?
From the region of Colniza in northwestern Mato Grosso, where it is collected by a traditional riverside community that works in partnership with the Carvalho Beans cooperative.

How is it supplied?
Latex in natura begins to change within hours of tapping, so the supply format, handling and delivery point are agreed with each buyer before an order. Volume, packaging, origin documentation and any laboratory analysis come with the quote.
Why buy latex from the standing forest?
A native rubber tree only produces while the forest around it stands. Regular demand for its latex makes that forest economically valuable to the people who live in it, which is also one of the cooperative’s statutory objectives.
