Is coffee roasted in Brazil too old when it reaches me?
For espresso blends, foodservice, vending and instant, no — all of them benefit from rest and none depends on delicate top notes. For light-roast filter specialty sold on origin character, yes. We would rather lose that enquiry than win it and disappoint you.
This is the first question every private label buyer asks about origin roasting, so it is answered here rather than buried. What actually governs shelf life is the barrier film, the residual oxygen after sealing and storage conditions — far more than roast date alone.
Our roast-to-dispatch window is committed in writing in each supply agreement, as a number rather than a promise.
| Destination | Suits |

What does roasting at origin actually give a brand?
A shorter chain and a story you can name. The coffee is grown by a cooperative you can point to, roasted and packed within kilometres of where it grew, and shipped direct — four links instead of twelve, with traceability a domestic co-packer cannot buy at any price.
Most coffee crosses borders green and is roasted near the consumer, partly for logistics and partly because many importing markets tax roasted coffee more heavily than green. A programme roasted at origin inverts that, and keeps the manufacturing value in the region that grew the crop.

What capacity and lead times can you commit to?
Capacity, batch size, minimum and maximum run and PO-to-ship lead time are all unconfirmed until the roastery is commissioned for export volume. They are confirmed in writing for each programme rather than estimated here, because a number you plan around has to be a real one.
Roasting
| Capability | Value |
|---|---|
| Roast yield | Approximately 16 to 18% weight loss, so 1 kg of green yields about 830 g roasted |
Available on request with the quote: roaster, batch size, capacity per week, capacity per month, profile control and logging.
Grinding
Available on request with the quote: grinder, grind settings offered, particle size verification.
What packaging formats are available?
Retail bags at 250 g, 500 g and 1 kg, foodservice bags at 5 kg, and portion sachets. Film structure, closure, valve fitment, nitrogen flush and per-format minimums are listed below where confirmed; the rest come with the quote.

How does a programme actually run?
Qualification, specification, sample approval, artwork and film, production, then shipping. The step most buyers underestimate is film: it is usually the longest lead time and the binding minimum, so it starts early and it is settled in writing.

Export and transit
Export documentation, ocean booking and the transit leg to your port. The extra leg an origin-roasted programme carries, stated rather than glossed.

What certifications do you hold?
None. We claim no certification today, and food safety certification — SQF or BRCGS — gates private label, grocery and major foodservice accounts. If your programme requires it in hand, we are not ready for that account yet, and we would rather you knew now.
| Certification | Scope | Status | Detail |
|---|---|---|---|
| SQF (Safe Quality Food) | Food safety — gates private label, grocery and major foodservice | Not held | — |
| BRCGS Food Safety | Food safety — accepted in place of SQF by most EU and UK buyers | Not held | — |
| Organic (USDA NOP / EU) | Green and roasted | Not held | — |

Frequently asked questions
What is the minimum order for private label coffee?
The minimum is set per format, and printed film usually sets the real floor rather than roasting does. Film is printed in long runs, so the packaging minimum is normally the binding constraint. The minimum run for each format is confirmed in the quote.
How long does a private label order take from purchase order to delivery?
Three separate clocks run in sequence: artwork and film production, then the roast and pack run, then ocean transit. The PO-to-ship lead time is confirmed in writing with each order, and transit adds the times published on our freshness page. Budget for all three when planning a launch.
Is coffee roasted in Brazil too old by the time it reaches me?
It depends entirely on your use case, and we would rather say so plainly. Espresso blends and foodservice coffee tolerate origin roasting well, because both benefit from rest and are consumed as blends. Light-roast filter specialty does not. Our freshness page publishes transit times by destination.
Do you hold food safety certification?
No. We claim no certification today. SQF and BRCGS status is listed openly on our compliance page, including target dates. Food safety certification gates private label, grocery and major foodservice accounts, so if your programme requires it in hand, we are not ready for that account yet.
Who supplies the packaging film and artwork?
You supply print-ready artwork to our dieline, plus your brand name, UPC or EAN barcode and GS1 registration. Who sources and pays for printed film, and the print minimum that follows from it, is agreed in writing before artwork starts. We supply the green coffee, roasting, grinding, packing and coding.
Can you roast to my existing roast profile?
Specify the target as an Agtron number rather than a word like medium, and we can work to it. Words are not portable between roasters; Agtron is objective and repeatable. Send a reference sample alongside the number so we can match development as well as colour.
What packaging formats do you offer?
The formats under offer run from 250 g retail bags through 500 g and 1 kg up to 5 kg foodservice bags and portion sachets. Materials, closures, valve fitment and nitrogen flush are listed format by format on our packaging page, where every unconfirmed specification is marked as such.
Can you grind, or is it whole bean only?
Grinding is part of the line, and ground coffee is packed on the same equipment as whole bean, which keeps grind-to-seal time short. The grind settings available for your format are confirmed in the quote.
Who is responsible for label compliance in my market?
Requirements differ by destination: US FDA labelling, EU FIC with a named EU-based responsible person, Canada bilingual. Which party signs off on the label is agreed in writing in each supply agreement. Our compliance page sets out what each market requires so you can scope it before artwork starts.
Can you handle US customs clearance and act as importer of record?
That depends on the incoterm on your contract. Under FOB the buyer handles entry, duty and the FSVP programme; under DDP the seller does. The importer of record for each shipment is named in the contract. Decide the incoterm early, because it changes who needs an FSVP qualified individual.
Do you offer warehousing and dropship fulfilment at destination?
Whether destination warehousing and dropship can be offered for your programme is confirmed per quote. If you need pick-and-pack fulfilment rather than pallet delivery, raise it in the first conversation, because it changes both the cost structure and the minimum viable order.
How is a lot traced back to the farm?
Coffee is grown by one named cooperative in one municipality, milled and roasted at origin, then shipped direct. Four links instead of twelve means the chain can genuinely be walked backwards. The traceability depth behind each lot is shared with qualified buyers on request.
Can I visit the facility before committing?
Origin visits are the fastest way to resolve a supplier question that documents cannot. The mill and roastery are in Taquaruçu do Norte, Mato Grosso. Contact us with your window and we will confirm what can be shown and arrange the logistics from the nearest airport.
What happens if a production run does not meet specification?
Approve a pre-production sample before the full run, which is the point at which specification problems are cheapest to fix. Remedies for a run that misses an approved specification are set out in our terms of sale. Retained samples from every run support any later claim.
Do you sell green coffee as well, if I would rather roast it myself?
Yes. The same coffee is offered green, from boxed quantities up to full containers and forward contracts. Buying green means you control the roast and carry the roast loss; buying roasted means we carry both. Our green offerings page lists every available lot.
How is roasted coffee priced?
Cost-plus, built from the green cost at prevailing basis plus roast yield loss of roughly 16 to 18 percent, packaging, labour, certification, freight and destination duty. One kilo of green yields about 830 grams roasted, and roasted pricing has to carry that loss. No per-unit prices are published.
